February 2010 Equipping
Please help us improve Equipping by clicking here and taking a brief (three question) survey!
A Stance of Service — Because this is my first time writing for Equipping as Executive Director, I want to share my perspective as a leader among leaders. During my first week in the new role, I took time for a spiritual retreat to listen for God’s priorities. God clearly spoke to me about the importance of keeping first things first. As I meditated on a number of New Testament scriptures that use the word “first,” I was struck by two sayings of Jesus.
Human Trafficking Resolution — Resource Rhoda Keener, Executive Director, Mennonite Women USA, will be presenting at workshop at the Mennonite Health Association Assembly, March 4-7 in Norfolk, VA.
Workshop on pastoring those who use online pornography — Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary will host a day-long workshop designed for pastors who work with congregational members who use pornography. The workshop will pay special attention to the theological aspects of the issue, effects of pornography on congregational dynamics and appropriate pastoral response. Invite someone you know to visit seminary — Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary will host its spring Open House in March 13. It’s an ideal time for someone interested in seminary study to sit in on classes, participate in worship, meet professors and students and get answers to questions.
Free mission banks and teaching tools — Your congregation can join the 375 congregations from Mennonite Church USA using Mennonite Mission Network mission banks. Long Road Back — Is your congregation involved in prison ministry? Don’t miss the new DVD from Third Way Media (formerly Mennonite Media), Long Road Back: Ex-Offenders’ Struggle for Acceptance.
Bread for the Enemy Worship Resource — The Peace and Justice Support Network loves providing Mennonite Church USA leaders with worship resources, and what better time than the beginning of the year to begin a new lectionary? “Bread for the Enemy, A Peace & Justice Lectionary” walks through the bible with a daily passage focused on matters of peace and justice. | |
| Though Equipping is a primarily online resource, you will still receive four packets a year through conventional mail. To contact Equipping for feedback, submission guidelines or other issues, e-mail: equipping@mennoniteusa.org. | |
