Young Adult Lounge
The ever-popular Young Adult Lounge is back! It is located in C 110 - 111. Unless otherwise indicated on the schedule, the lounge will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and is equipped with Wi-Fi (sorry, we aren’t supplying the computers, just the Internet access). It is designed especially for young adults to meet up with old and new friends, feel more connected to other young adults and the broader church family, and to laugh and play together.
Tuesday, June 30
9 to 10p.m. Mixers and snacks
Come prepared to meet new friends and eat some good food.
10 to 11 p.m. Learning massage techniques with Katie Boyts
Join us and learn to give a good massage without a bunch of school or a fancy table.You might be interested to know that you’ll also receive a free massage at this session!
Katie will also lead us through self massage techniques to help with pain, low energy and negative emotions. Finally, Katie will share with us some new ideas about how to integrate these techniques into prayer or quiet time.
Katie is a licensed massage therapist in Oregon, having studied bodywork at East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland. Her interest and passion in healing is rooted in her studies at Goshen College where she earned her degree in Peace and Justice Studies, focusing on the healing vector of peacemaking, specifically around trauma. She has been in the helping field, exploring this topic, for more than seven years, within such contexts as a domestic violence shelter, event planning, student advocacy, spoken word, public speaking, writing and bodywork.

The Young Adult Fellowship (YAF) has been Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church USA’s young adult arm around for 10 years now.And yet,YAF is still introducing itself to many. This discussion will include an introduction of the YAF planning committee, a brief history of the group and an excitingreport on lastyear’s retreat inHarrisonburg,Va.At thisretreat,young adults from across the United States and Canada came together to openly discuss their hopes, fears and concerns for the church and young adults in general.

9 to 10 p.m. Meet and greet Mennonite Church USA’s Executive Board
Here is your chance to talk with the leaders of Mennonite Church USA! This time is set aside for YODA participants and other interested young adults to share your questions and thoughts with several members of the Mennonite Church USA Executive Board.You will also hear from the board members about issues concerning the church, how Mennonite Church USA works and is structured, and their hopes and dreams for our church.
10 to 11:00 p.m. Snacks and mingling
Stick around after the Mennonite Church USA’s Executive Board panel discussion for some delightful snacks and continued discussions or just plain hanging out.

All young adults are invited to gather just outside of the Starbucks, which is located outside of the NationwideArena at 9:30 p.m.sharp.Toget there from the convention center,simply head south onHigh Street,turnright onNationwide Boulevard and thearena will be on your right.We will walk together to the Red,White and Boom Fireworks extravaganza.

It is saidto be the best IndependenceDayfireworkscelebration in theMidwest.Thefireworks will be shot from Veteran’s Memorial on the north side of Broad Street.

I’d Like to Buy an Enemy Both hilarious and poignant, this new hour-long show from Ted & Company TheaterWorks allows us to laugh at ourselves, while raising important questions about the place of the U.S. in the world, why fear is such a large part of our culture and how we can honestly work for peace and justice in this country and just maybe in the world. Starring Ted Swartz and Trent Wagler.

You’ve been preparing for weeks, and now it is almost time for the first delegate session. Before you officially begin your work as a delegate in the first business session, come to the YODA Orientation to meet the other young adult delegates, ask questions and find out about the rest of the YODA sessions.This time of orientation will also provide space to get acquainted with your YODA small group and mentor for the week. 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Executive Board Reception for YODA Participants
The official business of the 2009 Delegate Assembly has ended, but the work of the church continues. Join us for one last opportunity to dialogue with members of the Mennonite Church USA Executive Board about issues raised in the delegate sessions as well as about your experience as a young adult delegate. Come and share your visions for the church in the coming years. Location:Young Adult Lounge
