LAST CALL: It’s still possible to submit a sermon or artwork for inclusion in the forthcoming collection, We Are Each Other’s Bread and Wine: Mennonite and Catholic Reflections on Eucharist and Peacemaking. This book is a collaborative effort among Mennonites and Catholics to share the profound gifts of each tradition for the sake of encouraging richer Christian worship and more faithful discipleship. The Institute of Mennonite Studies (AMBS) plans to publish the book jointly with a Catholic publisher. Though we’ve received a good number of entries, we’d be happy to receive more—especially from women and racial-ethnic preachers and artists. Due date: March 15, 2009. For more specific details regarding entries, see www.bridgefolk.net. If you have questions, email Marlene Kropf: MarleneK@MennoniteUSA.org. back to top Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, is the designated Church Education Sunday in 2009.In addition to the worship planning materials, MEA has included resources in the booklet that can be used throughout the year. There are instructions for creating a Mennonite education bulletin board, 10 different bulletin inserts and a map of the Mennonite educational institutions. These resources are also available as separate documents at www.MennoniteEducation.org/Sunday. We have increased the options to choose from in order to offer more flexibility in how the service is planned and which Sunday(s) to focus on church education. For those who like a service already planned, this is also available in the booklet. The worship planning materials from the booklet have been translated into Spanish and are available at www.MennoniteEducation.org/Sunday. Mennonite Education Agency (MEA), the education agency of Mennonite Church USA, has developed a booklet with worship planning materials and other resources about Mennonite education. You will receive this booklet in the Equipping mailing, and you can also download it from the MEA Web site at www.MennoniteEducation.org/Sunday. MEA is also mailing an 11”x17” color poster that highlights Mennonite education. You will notice a number of changes in the Church Education Sunday materials this year. Since MEA realizes that some congregations plan for a different focus on Feb. 1, these materials are no longer specific to that Sunday (although the Scriptures designated for Feb. 1 are used). back to top | |
