Mennonite Schools Council joins The Corinthian Plan
Mennonite Schools Council (MSC), an association of 36 schools, voted to have the Associated Mennonite Schools and Camps (AMSC) Benefits Plan relate to The Corinthian Plan of Mennonite Church USA through reinsurance.
MSC will now pay a portion of its reinsurance premium to a common fund that will be managed by Mennonite Mutual Aid (MMA). This fund will be used to pay a portion of the large claims among the various church plan pools participating in the new denominational health plan. This approach is similar to the model that is proposed for the Mennonite higher education institutions.
“MSC sees this action as a way to show solidarity with the denomination’s health plan and to share mutual aid with pastors and denominational leaders,” said J. Richard Thomas, chair of the MSC Executive Committee and superintendent of Lancaster Mennonite School.
