Peter Wiebe (Campaign Chair) — Glendale, Ariz.
Peter Wiebe most recently completed a year as interim administrator at Central Christian Schools in Kidron, Ohio, before accepting his calling to chair the campaign cabinet. His energy, excitement and love for the church are a joy and true blessing to the campaign. Wiebe served as a pastor for 46 years, during which he mentored 20 student pastors and led a number of congregations including Yellow Creek Mennonite Church in Elkhart County, Ind., Hesston (Kan.) Mennonite Church, Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, Ohio, and Trinity Mennonite Church in Glendale, Ariz., where he and his wife Rheta Mae currently are members. Though technically retired, Wiebe has continued to accept roles in the church, including interim president of Hesston (Kan.) College from July of 2003 through June of 2004. “God has provided me with rich resources of experience and continued health, energy and excitement about the work of the church,” Wiebe said. For him, being available for this kind of work is a response of gratitude to God.
Wilbur Bontrager (Campaign Vice Chair) — Middlebury, Ind.
Wilbur Bontrager is Chairman/CEO of Jayco, Inc., in Middlebury, Ind. where he has worked for 35 years. The company’s success has enabled him to carry on their commitment to giving generously to a variety of Mennonite institutions and mission agencies. “One of the primary reasons we have come together as congregations across the country is to do things in mission, service and leadership training that none of us can do alone,” Bontrager said. "These efforts need a sound and stable base from which to do their work." Wilbur and his wife, Sarah attend Clinton Frame Mennonite Church in Goshen, where they are active members. His background in business and his philanthropic heart are wonderful assets to the campaign.
