Healthy Selfies

Ingrid-Friesen-Moser-March-1-2011-025Ingrid Friesen Moser, MA, RD has degrees in both Christian Formation (AMBS) and Nutrition (Goshen College) and worked in the fields of dietetics and wellness for over 20 years. She is the author of Body Talk: Speaking the Words of Health (Living Stewardship Series, Herald Press 2007) and has been the wellness consultant for The Corinthian Plan since its beginning in 2010. Ingrid is a member of Southside Fellowship in Elkhart, Indiana where her husband David Moser is the pastor.

Without a doubt these are challenging times for us as a denomination. What the future of Mennonite Church USA will look like looms with some weighty unknowns.

As the wellness coordinator for the Corinthian Plan,

I’ve been thinking a lot about the toll it takes on a person to live with a heavy heart, especially when the way forward feels uncertain and painful.

For pastors and church workers these feelings of uncertainty and pain may be especially pronounced given the leadership role you carry in the denomination.

As tough as it may feel at times it is good to remember we still have a choice each day for how we will respond. We can make the conscious decision to live into this uncertainty with hope for the future. “For surely I know the plans I have for you says the Lord … plans to give you a future with hope,” (Jeremiah 29:11).

What might this faithful response on a daily basis look like as we wait for the future of Mennonite Church USA to unfold? I’m hoping you will tell us!

Consider taking a photo and sharing it.

As you participate in activities that bring you hope, give you energy, and/or connect you to loved ones notice what new thing is stirred in you. Then, snap a photo and pass it on. You may also forward on a recent photo of you from your photo library that stirs hope and new energy for the future.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words.

What story will your picture tell of a future full of hope that is to come?

All are welcome to participate in the photo sharing. Take a photo, share it here, than tag someone else to do it too.

Corinthian Plan Participants and Covered Spouses: Don’t forget you can take advantage of the wellness coaching that is part of your health plan benefits and participate in the wellness incentive worth up to $600 per year. These are good ways to get extra support and encouragement for taking care of yourself during these challenging times.
