“Dare to Imagine!”

The 2021 Advent at Home Worship Guide:

  • Is written by Talashia Keim Yoder, pastor of Christian Formation at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana.
  • Follows the theme and worship materials in Leader magazine.
  • Can be printed at home or read from a device.
  • Covers Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.

What is it like?

  • Centers on the rituals of lighting Advent candles and reading Scripture.
  • Focuses on the traditional Advent themes of hope, peace, joy and love.
  • Designed to be flexible — use all or some of the activities.
  • Designed for all ages — children through mature adults.

“In the midst of the busyness of the holiday season, Advent invites us to slow down and come home to God each day.” — Talashia Keim Yoder

“People of all ages, in all combinations, can find an entry point in this Advent resource. Its alignment with the Leader magazine Advent resource (and Revised Common Lectionary) can bring cohesion and deepen faith formation opportunities for many congregations. Church leaders, consider giving this resource to people of all ages in your congregations!” — Talashia Keim Yoder, Advent at Home writer

“Celebrating holidays at home is a natural and fun way to talk about faith. The Advent at Home worship guide can be used at any age or stage of life to deepen the experience of the Christmas season, and it provides parents with a toolkit for doing just that. We know that the greatest influence in growing faith in children is parents practicing faith at home (Smith and Adamczyk, Handing Down the Faith, 2021).” –Shana Peachey Boshart, Mennonite Church USA minister for Faith Formation
