Following the horrific shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and other recent violent incidents, the Executive Board joins people around the world in mourning. We condemn this violence and bring the sorrow and brokenness that is felt by so many before God. As Mennonite Church USA, we have renewed our commitment to bear witness to God’s peace. The Executive Board calls on churchwide agencies, schools, congregations and individuals throughout Mennonite Church USA to continue our efforts to “extend God’s holistic peace, proclaiming Christ’s redemption for the world with our lives. Through Christ, God frees the world from sin and offers reconciliation. We bear witness to this gift of peace by rejecting violence and resisting injustice in all forms and in all places.” Lord, have mercy. Hear our prayers, Lord.
