Open letter to Rabbi Myers, Tree of Life Congregation, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Dear Rabbi Myers:

On behalf of the members and leaders of Mennonite Church USA, I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to those at Tree of Life*Or L’Simcha who lost friends and family members this past weekend during the shooting. It is hard to imagine the pain that you are feeling currently.

During times like this, it is the responsibility of all of us in the faith community to come together and stand against hatred and evil in its many forms. We denounce those that attack our houses of worship in the name of political ideology, antisemitism or racism. I read on your website that your congregation remains true to traditional teachings yet is also progressive and relevant to the way we live today. That is the struggle we all face as members of the faith community. I pray that this tragedy will not stop you. I pray for your healing and continued strength.

May God grant you peace that you may know no further sorrow.
